I love math because although math can't teach us how to add love or minus hate, it proves to us that every problem has a solution.
Welcome to 7th grade Small Group Math
Who is Ms. Selhost?
I, as well as my dad and his siblings, grew up in Homewood and went through all the schools in the district. While growing up, I was extremely involved in sports and music. I tried a few sports, but I fell in love with soccer. I played soccer from 2 through 12 grade. In addition to soccer, I also played music. I started out on trumpet, but quickly changed to, and fell in love with, the French Horn.
Upon graduating from H-F, I attended the University of Iowa where I obtained my bachelor's degree in Psychology. Soon thereafter, I continued my education by attending Eastern Illinois University and received my teaching license in K-9 with a Middle School Endorsement in Mathematics.
I started my professional career at Homewood School District 153 3 years ago as the Reading Center aide at Millennium. The following year, I was hired as the 7th grade Reading Intervention teacher. Then, I moved to 6th grade Reading Intervention. Currently, as my 3rd year in teaching, I am teaching 7th grade Small Group Math. I also am the 7th/8th grade girls soccer coach.
I am excited to begin this new school year and in a new position! As your child's math teacher, I hope to transfer my love of math to them! I cannot wait to see what this new year will bring!
