Welcome to Ms Hackett's Teacher Page

Welcome to the 2020-2021 School Year.

I am excited for a new school year at James Hart School. This is my 15th year as a School Social Worker at James Hart.I will be working with 7th graders with last names A-M, and 8th graders.

As a social worker, it is my mission to support ALL students and families to have a successful school experience at James Hart. Junior high can be a difficult time as so much of change is happening for our students as the move into adolescence. I work with students individually and in small groups, as well as present social emotional health information in classes. It is my goal to help students find their voice, identify their unique personal strengths to use to tackle the challenges that come their way and to develop positive and healthy relationships.

A little bit about me!

My favorite life role is that of being an Auntie both to family and friends to a crew of amazing nephews and nieces. I love traveling and seeing live music anywhere I can find it. Since the spring, I have found a new love of walking and exploring different parks and neighborhoods near me. Also, being in the sunshine and watching the moon at night. Focusing on the small joys in life has filled my time and spirit!

I have been a school social worker at James Hart School since 2006. I am lucky enough to have been a product of Homewood School District 153. I attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison for my undergraduate degree (Go Badgers!) and the Jane Addams College of Social Work at University of Illinois- Chicago to earn my Masters in Social Work. In March 2020 I earned my License of Clinical Social Work (LCSW)!

After school in normal years you will find me sponsoring the Friends of Rachel Club at James Hart and Homewood Flossmoor High School and planning for the Operation Snowball Programs. Both clubs aim to make a positive impact in our school and community and encourage a sense of belonging.

Please do not hesitate to reach out with questions or concerns! I am here to support you and your child!
