All of us at James Hart School are looking forward to welcoming back our students on Wednesday, August 21, for our first day of school. Here are a few reminders that may be helpful:
Our 6th grade BTS Night is this Monday, August 19, beginning at 6:30 PM in the Wood Floor Gym. Parents will spend most of the night walking their child’s schedule and hearing from their teachers. Please enter through Doors I, O, or S. Also, please bring your child’s schedule.
Our Back-to-School Night for 7th and 8th graders will be on Thursday, August 29. The format is the same as above.
The building will be open at the following times for students to drop off supplies at their lockers before school starts. Please note that teachers are not available to meet during these times.
6th grade: Monday, August 19, from 4 PM to 6:30 PM
All students: Tuesday, August 20, from 4 PM to 7 PM.
Parents may drop off their student on either the Morgan Street side or Aberdeen Street side. If using Aberdeen Street, please drop-off only between the stoplight at 183rd and halfway down the street to Door S. Our buses use the northern half of Aberdeen Street for drop-off. We encourage parents to pick up in the afternoon on Aberdeen as our buses use the Morgan Street side.
Students are admitted to the building each morning at 7:33 AM and they should be on the bus or picked up/walking home by 2:40 each day, unless they are under the supervision of an adult for an after-school activity. We will bring the students inside from 7:20-7:33 AM if there is inclement weather. Supervision is not provided before 7:20 AM each morning.
If you drop off food for your student it will be placed into a bin and carried to the lunchroom. Please let your student know to go to the cafeteria as we will not call students out of class to inform them. Also, please make sure your student’s name is on the bag when you drop it off.
Lunch times are as follows:
6th grade: 10:56 AM
7th grade: 11:42 AM
8th grade: 12:28 PM
Also, please know we cannot accept food deliveries from outside vendors (Jimmy Johns, Door Dash, etc.). The only people who can drop off food are parents/guardians. If a vendor brings a delivery we will turn them away.
Just a reminder about student phone use at James Hart. Students may use their phones as they enter the building en route to their locker. However, once they arrive at their locker their phone needs to be turned off and kept in their locker until 2:30 PM. Phones may be used after 2:30 PM in the building.
Students in possession of their phone during the day will have their phone confiscated and will have to serve a Saturday detention. Also, a parent will have to pick up the phone.
For privacy reasons, at no time can phones be used for pictures or videos on school property.
We are looking forward to a great year!
