Modified Social Studies

Welcome back!

I am excited about the 2023-2024 school year and our journey into the history of the United States and world as we study intriguing topics like government and geography. We will be using various resources like the We the People textbook and our new pilot program on geography. Throughout the year we will be building skills in the areas of geography, government, U.S. history, study and research strategies, thinking methods, and reading and writing skills.  Lecture, videos, the textbooks, iPads, and computers will be used to meet the various needs of each student during the lessons we will explore throughout the year.  Some of the major topics/projects they will be doing this year are: the Constitution; participate in the Congressional Hearings; and research a country and present their findings in class.

But I was absent yesterday!

Students are responsible for asking for all work missed while they were out. I will also have extra worksheets, test materials, and flashcards available for students to use.  Students will be expected to make up their work in the same amount of time that was given to the other students. When students are absent on a test day, they must see me upon returning to school to schedule a make-up. Be responsible and organized and take ownership of your work and that will produce positive results.

Late Work Policy:

All work is due on the date requested (refer to above for make-up work). I will accept late work until the end of the Trimester.  Late points will be deducted if the assignment is a week late.  *ASK QUESTIONS! Remember, you are not the only one who doesn’t know. *Absences are exempt see above.
